    Understanding Your Window Options

    Last updated 1 year ago

Are you shopping for new windows? You may notice that there’s no shortage of options—these days, windows can be customized to fit nearly any budget, home, and style. Here are some different ways you can experiment with your window options:

Glass: There are a wide variety of choices for the type of glass that can fill your windows. Flat glass is commonly used in windows, but several other types include bulletproof and tempered safety glass. Additionally, low-E glass helps to filter the sun’s heat and control the temperature of your home.

Grids: Grid patterns help to frame a window and break up the amount of light that enters through the glass. There are hundreds of grid patterns to choose from, and you can also choose the thickness of the grids on your windows. Grids are a great way to customize your replacement window and make it fit perfectly with the style of your home.

Energy Efficiency: Your doors and windows are your greatest ally in helping to keep comfortable air from escaping. The energy efficiency rating of your windows describes how effective they are at retaining air. These replacement windows may be slightly more expensive initially, but will add up to greater savings on your utility bills over time.

Transoms and Sidelights: A transom is a thin pane of glass installed on top of a wooden door in order to allow light to filter through. Sidelights are thin, vertical windows placed next to a door in order to provide a view of potential visitors. These windows can be decorated or plain, tilted or flat, which allows for the ideal level of customization.

They work to keep out the elements of nasty weather without peeling, swelling, expanding, cracking, or warping. In addition, these doors protect against insects, salt air, and corrosion, and come with a full lifetime warranty that includes protection against glass breakage!

Choose from a variety of fiberglass French doors to suit every style and type of home:

    • French-Style Sliding Doors: These doors offer the polished look of French doors, while still saving space by functioning as a sliding glass door. Choose from a variety of grid, panel, and paint options for a truly custom look.

    • In-Swing French Doors: If you’re not sold on what sliding doors have to offer, then consider French doors that swing in toward the home. With a comprehensive locking mechanism and designer handles, these doors allow you to experience affordable luxury.

A Guide to Keeping Your New Milgard Windows Looking Great

    Last updated 1 year ago

Brand-new replacement windows can enhance the look of any home and will last for a long time with proper maintenance. Milgard windows are designed with durability and ease of use in mind, and with a little bit of extra care, they’ll look lovely in your home for years to come. Here is a quick guide to keeping your new Milgard windows looking great:

Care for the Frames: One of the most important features of any window is the frame, and Milgard windows are no exception. Wash dirt and smudges from frames with a mild, nonabrasive soap and warm water. Don’t use acidic or harsh cleaners, as this may damage the frame. Be sure to wipe the area dry after you’ve finished cleaning!

Clean the Glass: Your glass windows will hold up well over time, but will also need to be cleaned occasionally to keep them beautifully clear. To clean your window glass, use a mild dish soap and water, wiping away the moisture with a soft, dry cloth. Never use abrasive products, high-pressure water hoses, or any sort of blades on your Milgard windows.

Clear out the Track System: Lubricate your door and window tracks at least once a year. If you live near the ocean, then be sure to lubricate your doors and window rollers every six months. Occasionally, you should vacuum out all dirt and debris that may have collected in the tracks.

Check the Weather-stripping: Be sure to regularly check the weather strip seal on your Milgard windows to ensure that they are closing tightly and maintaining their excellent energy efficiency.

Manage Condensation: If humidity levels are higher indoors than outdoors, then excessive moisture and condensation can make it difficult to see outside. Control the humidity levels of your home by using a dehumidifier and ceiling fan as well as regularly opening doors and windows.
